Davidson River Campground offers camping and outdoor activities for the whole family. The campground boasts several loops of shaded campsites, as well as access to hiking trails, fishing spots, waterfalls and several nearby attractions within Pisgah National Forest. It lies just four miles west of the town of Brevard and less than an hour from the city of Asheville. The facility is open year-round.

  • The facility provides hot showers and restrooms with flush toilets.
  • Campers can purchase ice and firewood on-site.
  • Dump station and potable water on site.
  • Generators may be used up to 4 hours per day between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.; generators not allowed on Poplar Loop (sites 99-113).

Davidson River Campground Closed November 2025 – May 2026 for Bathhouse Renovations

To enhance the guest experience, the US Forest Service and Naventure are collaborating to modernize the campground’s bathhouses with upgraded facilities designed for improved comfort and privacy. The campground will be closed from November 2025 through May 2026 to complete this work. We look forward to welcoming you back when renovations are complete.

Standard Operations (outside of renovation period):

  • Campsites are available year-round.
  • Reservations are required during the main season (late March–mid-November).
  • During the off-season (mid-November–late March), campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis for one-night stays only.
  • Reservations open on a 6-month rolling calendar; availability is limited—especially on weekends and holidays. Weekday bookings are strongly recommended.
  • Maximum stay: 14 nights (no monthly bookings).
  • Check-in time: 2:00 PM.
  • Gatehouse hours: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM.
  • All guests must check in at the gatehouse upon arrival.

Prime Fly Fishing Destination

The Davidson River is renowned for its excellent trout fishing, particularly fly fishing. Anglers from all over the country visit the area to cast their lines into the crystal-clear waters of the river.
